CS2Notes is a free portable software that requires no installation. You can simply download the software and start using it immediately. For those of you that are in a restricted corporate computing environment and do not have administrator privilege, you'll be happy to know that our software does not need administrator privilege for you to use.

CS2Notes is 100% ads-free and bundle-free. There will be absolutely NO unwanted advertisements to the user, and absolutely NO malware downloaded to your computer.

CS2Notes is a Java-based software, which supports Java 7 and above. In order to run CS2Notes, you are required to install Oracle Java SE Runtime Environment 7 (JRE 7) on your machine. JRE 7 is freely available and can be downloaded from the following address:

After the installation, you may verify the Java version from command line in a command console as follows:

C:\Users\Haiping Xu>java -version

The following information (showing 1.7 but possibly with different update and build) should be displayed:

java version "1.7.0_06"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_06-b24)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode, sharing)

If your installed 64-bit JRE 7 (i.e., x64 version instead of x86), the last line will be similar to the following:

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode)

CS2Notes can be run on different platforms including Windows XP/Vista/7, OS X and Linux operating systems.

For Windows XP/Vista/7/8 users

If you are not familiar with Java, and don't know if you have installed the right Java version on your machine, you are recommended to download the following zip file cs2notes-lite-2.2.1-jre7.zip to your desktop, which includes JRE 7 (32-bit). After the file is downloaded, extract the zip file to here, click on the cs2notes-lite-2.2.1-jre7 folder to enter the directory, and then double click on cs2notes-lite-2.2.1-win32.exe to run the application. Note that it does not matter the Windows operating system on your machine is 32-bit or 64-bit.

In case you have already installed JRE 7 (32-bit) on your Windows machine, you can copy the file cs2notes-lite-2.2.1-win32.exe to your desktop, and double click on it to run it directly. If it runs ok, all other files in this folder can now be deleted.

Alternatively, if you have installed JRE 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) on your Windows machine, you may download one of the following much smaller files: cs2notes-lite-2.2.1-win32.exe (if you installed JRE 7 with extension x86) or cs2notes-lite-2.2.1_x64.exe (if you installed JRE 7 with extension x64) to your desktop, and then double click on it to run the application.

 cs2notes-lite-2.2.1_x64.exe (3.48M, 64-bit JRE/JVM)

For OS X and Linux users

Download cs2notes-lite-2.2.1.jar.zip to your desktop, unzip the file, and double click on the jar file cs2notes-lite-2.2.1.jar to run the software. Please make sure you have installed JRE 7 on your OS X or Linux OS.

If the software does not start to run, you may run it from command line in a command console as follows:

java -jar cs2notes-lite-2.2.1.jar

Note: The current version of CS2Notes can be run on PCs and laptops with Windows, OS X or Linux operating system, and tablets with Windows 8 operating system. Apps running on tablets and smart phones with Android OS or iOS are currently / will be under construction. Please check this download page later.

Some Running Issues

1. On Windows 7 or other OS platforms, the following question may be presented when you start to run CS2Notes:

The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?

Please click on the "Run" button to allow running the executable file.

2. Since CS2Notes store encrypted note info in the cloud powered by Google App Engine, it needs to communicate with Google. If you have firewall installed on your machine, you may be presented the following question while signning up or logging into your account:
