Biography

Dr. Vinod Vokkarane is currently an Associate Professor of Computer and Information Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.  He received the B.E. degree with Honors in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Mysore, India in 1999, the M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2004. Dr. Vinod Vokkarane joined the Computer and Information Science department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2004 as an Assistant Professor. He is a recipient of the Texas Telecommunication Engineering Consortium Fellowship 2002-03 and the University of Texas at Dallas Computer Science Dissertation of the Year Award 2003-04. Dr. Vokkarane is the co-author of a book, “Optical Burst Switched Networks,” Springer, 2005. He is also serving as the Associate Editor of IEEE Communication Letters. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and its Communication Society. His primary areas of research include design and analysis of architectures and protocols for optical and wireless networks.
