Biography

Dr. Aboelela received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Miami (Florida); M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Computer Science from Alexandria University (Egypt). Before joining University of Massachusetts Dartmouth he taught at Southern Connecticut State University for two years and prior to that he worked at University of Miami as a part-time professor and research assistant for five years during which he received many awards including the Award of Academic Merit.

Research

My research interests are in Computer Networks, their protocols and applications. Currently I am pursuing two research projects. The first one is on the applications of wireless sensor networks to safety and maintenance of railways. The second project is on providing quality of service voice over congested IP network. In addition, I have done research on applying fuzzy multiobjective optimization techniques in the area of broadband integrated-service networks.
